Optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and Chrome, MAXView provides a flexible and convenient way to monitor critical IBM i application resilience.

Maximum Availability (Maxava), high availability and disaster recovery solution provider for IBM i, has announced the release of MAXView, a real-time mobile technology that brings new levels of flexibility and control to the management of Maxava’s *noMAX Garrison product.

Maxava’s *noMAX High Availability Suite protects data and applications by creating a real-time copy of production data which is always available. Providing a flexible and convenient way to monitor critical IBM i application resilience was a key driver for Maxava in creating this new mobile technology.

"Our customers have been asking us for a smart and easy way to monitor their high availability environments 'on the go,' and we have delivered this with MAXView, which is based on our proven HA Health-Check technology,” says Simon O’Sullivan, Maxava senior vice president. “MAXView allows customers to easily check and report on the current HA readiness and their general IBM i system resources,” he says.

MAXView is browser-based technology that has initially been optimized for Apple Safari on the iPhone and iPad and Google Chrome on the PC. Support for other browsers and mobile devices will be rolled out over the coming weeks. The MAXView browser displays status of the *noMAX HA environment in real-time as well as IBM i system, job and disk summary details. “Customers can set thresholds in line with their business policies and then receive their very own, real time, HA Health-Check anytime, anywhere” O’Sullivan says. “If there is a problem with a file being replicated, a communications link between the systems fails, or a threshold is reached on disk utilization; this information is immediately available through an intuitive display delivered directly to their iPhone, iPad or other device.

“Imagine monitoring your IBM i HA/DR system environment from an iPhone. You can immediately see a visual alert of system status and can touch the screen to drill down and see relevant details. MAXView is ideal for busy IT managers with multiple projects to oversee. We’re very excited to be leading the way with relevant and useful solutions for our HA/DR customers” O’Sullivan says.

MAXView also comes with a PC Widget for the desktop toolbar and allows access to the visual monitor which shows alerts as appropriate. Maxava demonstrated MAXView at COMMON and is promoting the new technology by offering a free iPad to all new customers who purchase *noMAX Garrison by this August 31. MAXView is available free to existing *noMAX Garrison customers.
