HiT Software, a leader in database integration, synchronization, and replication, today announced a significant increase in the number of new requests for database integration products from application developers, designers, and IT staff involved in creating business intelligence projects. Since January 2008, HiT Software recorded a 400 percent increase over the previous year in the number of evaluations of its products to support projects employing business intelligence, data warehouse, data mart, database synchronization, and database migration efforts, the company reported.

"We believe our products provide significant value in performance and cost-effectiveness for business intelligence projects that demand varying levels of data connectivity and synchronization," said Giacomo Lorenzin, CEO of HiT Software, Inc. "What we found interesting over the past year was that project managers sought us out, even when they had solutions available to them through incumbent software investments. Data integration suites often provide an overload of complex functionality of which customers really only use a small percentage. Add in the cost of consulting fees, elongated project cycle times, and the drain on IT staff to manage and fine-tune these hefty software products, and you have a very unhappy customer. HiT Software is regularly selected to bridge that gap and help these business intelligence projects function quickly, without requiring excess staff or budget overruns."

Industry research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. recently posted its list of "Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2009," in which business intelligence was included. According to Gartner, business intelligence ranked as the top technology priority in Gartner's 2008 CIO Survey. Gartner ranks business intelligence as "particularly strategic because it is directed toward business managers and knowledge workers who make up the pool of thinkers and decision makers that are tasked with running, growing and transforming the business. Tools that let these users make faster, better and more-informed decisions are particularly valuable in a difficult business environment."

Adds Lorenzin, "We believe the heightened interest in business intelligence projects could be indicative of current economic conditions. We are seeing two key changes-organizations want to implement data analysis quickly, and they are changing from an ‘ask IT for a report' approach to an environment where key business data is readily available to the consumer."

Joseph Guerra, vice president at RapidDecisions, a business intelligence solutions provider for J.D. Edwards environments, says, "There are many reasons to employ business intelligence systems but none more critical today than to stay financially competitive and relevant. No organization wants to rip and replace large-scale systems right now, and the smartest thing they can do is to leverage those systems by synchronizing key data with highly efficient databases designed specifically for reporting and analysis. Our RapidDecision solution, powered by DBMoto, is more active today than ever, due to increased interest in these scenarios, and we expect that interest to continue to grow."
