Comodo, a leading Certificate Authority and Internet security organization, today announced that their Comodo Internet Security Premium (CIS) software earned another 100% protection score in the most recent evaluation period of AV-Test.org. Comodo earned a perfect score with 100% protection against zero-day malware attacks during November and December and a near-perfect score for the detection of prevalent malware with 99% and 100% protection ratings for the two months, respectively.
The tests, carried out by software testing firm AV-Test.org, ran through November and December 2013 and continuously evaluated 25 home user security products on Windows 8.1 (64 bit). The most current publicly-available version of each product was tested and all products were allowed to update themselves at any time by querying their in-the-cloud services. AV-Test.org challenges security products to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers by focusing on realistic scenarios and real-world threats.
"The internet is a means to help humans advance, through learning and sharing information with others" said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo CEO and Chief Security Architect, "and the only way for us to continue to learn and share information online is to create a trusted Internet for everyone to use. This is why Comodo has committed ourselves to providing a free internet security suite to everyone in the world. Each time CIS earns a 100% protection rating from AV-Test.org, it reconfirms that a free product can deliver equivalent or better security than any paid software. The more users who download our free internet security suite, the closer we get to a trusted internet for all."
Comodo Internet Security Premium creates a highly protective shield against viruses and malware through its innovative 'Default Deny Protection' system. The software uses a combination of firewall, antivirus, host intrusion prevention, automatic sandboxing and behavior analysis technologies to quickly and accurately identify safe, unsafe and questionable files. While the core CIS software is identical across all versions, the paid versions are differentiated with additional services such as live support, online storage and encryption of Wi-Fi connections at public hotspots.
