In a Webinar scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (ET) Thursday, August 16, JustSystems, Inc., will reveal how companies are working with DITAùfrom technical publications, to technical support, to policies and procedures and moreùand look at advantages of the forthcoming DITA 1.1 specification.

The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) has gained traction quickly because it allows organizations to easily re-purpose and reuse content for multiple channels and languages resolving two business challenges companies face when producing complex informational content. The DITA 1.1 specification defines both a set of document types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information; and a set of mechanisms for combining and extending document types using a process called specialization.

Titled, "Market Adoption of DITA and What's New in DITA 1.1," JustSystems' XML Advisor Webinar Series will also feature Yas Etessam, consultant and a member of the OASIS DITA Technical Committee, who will talk about the two major themes of DITA 1.1ùsupport for printed books and glossaries and increased extensibilityùand how the new features can benefit DITA implementation. Also participating will be Angie Hirata, director of marketing for JustSystems.

Attendees will learn

  • How DITA can be applied in the call center, for field service, and to other applications;
  • How to plan effectively for the upcoming DITA 1.1 specification release;
  • The key features for printed book support and increased extensibility; and
  • Preview of DITA 1.1 support in XMetaL Author
