Raz-Lee Security, a leading supplier of information security solutions for the IBM i, has announced full support for IPv6 in iSecurity products:
- Firewall - Network Security
- Audit - QAUDJRN and security status monitoring
- AP-Journal - DB audit and Application security
With this announcement, Raz-Lee once again exhibits unique, first-to-market technological, and development capabilities.
Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) was developed because the Internet is running out of IPv4 addresses; the last block of IPv4 addresses was allocated in 2011. IPv6 is the replacement for IPv4; it addresses the depletion of IP addresses, changes the way traffic is managed, and is becoming the industry standard. Google statistics show a 100% increase in IPv6 traffic since the beginning of 2013.
IPv6, IPv4, and IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses (e.g. ::ffff:192.0.2.128) are all supported simultaneously for input, checks and output. The implementation of IPv6 in iSecurity is in the same manner as in the IBM i Operating System - while IPv4 addresses are handled with subnet masks, IPv6 addresses are handled with a separate prefix length field.
With IPv6 implemented in iSecurity, the company's users will be able to:
- Use any IPv6/IPv4 address to filter activity at real time
- Provide rules to protect access to and from the IBM i from any worldwide/local IPv6/IPv4 address
- Obtain exact IP address of someone who accessed, read or changed application data
- Display all IPs with their standard editing
"Throughout Raz-Lee Security's 30-year history, we have always striven to lead the market in technological initiatives relevant to real, day-to-day, business issues," said Shmuel Zailer, CEO/CTO, Raz-Lee Security. "With the increasing prevalence of IPv6 in enterprises worldwide, and as a result of requests from some very large customers, we decided to accept the challenge and provide IBM i sites with the leading security, auditing and compliance solutions which all support IPv6."
