Nearly all IBM i users are familiar with SEU, the Source Entry Utility. It has been around "forever," but it hasn't been updated since 2008 and remains frozen at the V6R1 level. RPG has had significant enhancements since then, and SEU doesn't understand the new syntax.

At this point, I want to say something very important. Are you ready? I always like to warn people when something important is going to be said. Generally, it tends to be a bit of a surprise for most people. When I say it, at least. But, here we go. Over the next two chapters we are going to talk about two things: binding directories and binding language. What is important to know is that they are not really related. A binding directory is not a place where a bunch of binding language objects are stored. They share the word “binding,” but that is about all they share. But I can’t say anything more…

Capstone RPG & DB2 Summit Conference Announced for October 2021
System i Developer to turn focus to other forms of training
System i Developer announces today that its 2021 Virtual RPG & DB2 Summit, scheduled for October 20-26, will be its final conference-style training event. Citing the projected long-term effects of COVID-19 on demand for in-person conferences, the group plans to sunset its cornerstone event to focus on training that developers can more easily schedule around their daily work.
