SEU and Compile Errors

One of the features I like about SEU is the ability to find compile errors by editing the source after the compile. I just press F15 for Browse/Copy options, enter a 2 (Spool file) under Selection and press Enter. This works great if I compile in batch, because the job name for the spooled output of the compile is the same as the member being compiled.

If I change PDM to compile interactively, SEU doesn't use the right job name in the Browse/Copy options. With interactive compiles, the job name is the workstation ID. SEU always defaults the job name to the member name. Since PDM knows I am compiling interactively, there should be a way to get SEU to use the right job name instead of making me tab five times so I can fill it in.

The solution is easy. Press F15; then tab down to the spool file name. Press F4 to get a listing of all your spool files. Select the last one with the program name in the file column and press Enter to accept. The spool file name, job name, user and job number are then loaded into the Browse/Copy Option screen. You'll notice that the selection field is automatically changed to a 2. Now, press Enter to view the spool file. You can use this method to select and view any report while in SEU.

That's right-but if I'm only interested in the compile listing, it is even easier if I tab down to the job name, enter the workstation ID and press Enter. Then the correct spool file comes up without having to search the list you would get with F4.
