Q: How do I use the CMPDTA parameter on the Monitor Messages (MONMSG) command? It sounds like a powerful tool. The IBM manuals are not clear from our point of view.

A: For the message you wish to monitor, use the Display Message Description (DSPMSGD) command to display the format of the message data. These fields are numbered and shown in order-complete with attribute information. When the CMPDTA parameter is used, the comparison data is compared with the message data. If they are the same, then the message is monitored.
