Zebra Technologies Corporation, a recognized global leader in technologies that extend real-time visibility into business operations, today announced the availability of its new product, the WhereTag IV-ST. This product adds a serial telemetry interface and external antenna option to the successful WhereTag IV family, which allows terminal operators to monitor the status of container handling equipment and other powered terminal assets (e.g., on/off, idling, not in use, low on fuel, etc.), along with their exact location ensuring more efficient utilization of assets, real estate and personnel.

The WhereTag IV-ST is the latest addition to Zebra's family of multimode real-time locating system (RTLS) asset tracking tags, which combine the open standard of ISO/IEC 24730-2 with IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi for complete visibility. It is designed to provide real-time location information to the terminal operating systems enabling improved efficiency and increased productivity.

The WhereTag IV-ST along with other Zebra products are part of Cargotec's SmartPort platform, a collection of pre-integrated terminal process automation solutions from Cargotec, and its strategic partners like Zebra.

"Our maritime solutions deliver critical information to maximize port operation efficiency and productivity," said Stephen Logue, vice president, Zebra Location Solutions. "Together with our partners, we provide fully integrated RTLS solutions for precise tracking and access to accurate, real-time information on the location and status of assets."

Zebra's WhereTag IV-ST is rugged and designed to withstand tough indoor and outdoor environments. It will be available to ship in December.

Zebra's WhereNet solutions provide the longest range RTLS capabilities and performance in an environment, including complex and hazardous locations. More information is available at www.zebra.com.
