VeriFone has announced that its MX870 multimedia payment system is now fully integrated with IBM's SurePOS application client server environment (ACE) Versions 5.0 and 6.0, the strategic point-of-sale applications for IBM retail store solutions in North America. The MX870 is the first PCI PED-approved large-screen payment solution supported on SurePOS ACE.

The MX870 is the first PCI-certified payment system to be certified on the ACE platform and the only full-screen payment solution, the company says. With this certification, VeriFone can provide the MX870 to any IBM ACE customer without additional development, testing, or certification.

"IBM point-of-sale solutions are a popular choice among multi-lane retailers, and the IBM SurePOS ACE is a powerful, flexible POS application for large retailers, supermarkets, and drug stores," said Jeff Wakefield, VeriFone vice president of marketing for Integrated Systems. "Combining these systems with VeriFone's MX870 provides retailers with the opportunity to express their brand, reinforce advertising, deliver cross-promotions and maximize their interaction with customers."

The MX870 is the flagship of VeriFone's MX800 customer-facing payment solutions. Going well beyond standard PIN pad technology, the PCI PED-approved MX870 meets stringent security requirements for the payment industry while providing eye-catching animations, video, and digital sound to grab the attention of shoppers to communicate messages and speed them through the check-out lane.

The latest version of the IBM SurePOS ACE is designed to optimize customer service and address PCI security requirements at the POS. The powerful application combines checkout support, electronic marketing, data maintenance, account management, and other accounting processes in a versatile package.
