IBM and SUSE collaborate to enable you to order SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12 for POWER directly from IBM. SLES 12 ushers in a new era on IBM POWER8 technology with a release of SLES which runs exclusively in little endian mode on the POWER8 architecture. This helps accelerate innovation and expand the Power Systems ecosystem by removing a portability barrier for software application vendors. SLES is a proven enterprise Linux distribution which now uses the POWER8 scale-out family of Linux-only servers with PowerKVM open virtualization. These technologies help maximize system resources and deliver the quality of service you expect as a Power Systems client.

With the SLES socket-based offering structure, you can deploy virtual and cloud environments without license restrictions on the number of guest instances to help maximize server usage.
