Quadrant Software, a leading software developer for paperless process management solutions, has released version 5.4.0 of its award-winning electronic forms, barcode labels, and MICR-check printing solution, Formtastic.

Formtastic is equipped with advanced design tools and features which allow users to easily design polished documents, laser MICR checks, and barcode or thermal labels, and populate them with data from their System i business application, without ever having to leave their desktops.

Among the many innovative upgrades of Formtastic, this latest version has the ability to use the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network directly through a new electronic payments module.

Among Formtastic's latest features:

  • Plug-in capability of the electronic payments module
The ACH is an electronic network for the processing of credit and debit transactions. The new electronic payments module for Formtastic takes the spool data, converts the information to an electronic check, checks for regulatory compliance, and then sends the ACH file out to the network. The network can then process the electronic check. This allows companies to make payments to employees, stockholders, or other businesses quicker and more securely then standard checking methods, directly from the System i screen.
  • Supports the UPS Maxicode 2D barcode
With BarDIMM or BarSTORM plug-ins, 2D barcodes can be inserted onto shipping labels and printed. The advantage of 2D barcodes is the increased capacity of data storage when compared with traditional barcodes.
  • Check merge support for overflow spool files
When the spool file is translated to a Formtastic check, the check remittance is printed on the top part of the form. This remittance information is sometimes contained in more than one spool file, called a spool file overflow. The new check merge support easily takes the two spool files and prints both on one check. Users can define an auto or manual merge, or a merge dependent on certain conditions.

Formtastic integrates with all major application vendors including Oracle (JD Edwards), Infor (XA, Application Plus, and others), SSA Global (BPCS, PRMS, and Infinium), Lawson, and many more. No application programming or source code changes are required because Formtastic extracts and remaps data already available in spooled files.

Over the years, Formtastic has helped companies significantly reduce expenses and increase productivity. This is because companies are able to eliminate costly preprinted forms and, either print to inexpensive laser printers, or automatically deliver documents by email or fax.

Pricing for Formtastic V5.4.0 starts at $8,400 (USD). Pricing for the new electronic payments module starts at $3,495 (USD). Companies already using Formtastic can achieve significant savings when adding the electronic payments module to their check processing operations.

Both Formtastic V5.4.0 and the electronic payments module are available immediately.
