Profound Logic Software announces that they will reveal version 4.5 of Profound UI at the COMMON 2013 Annual Meeting and Exposition taking place on April 7-10 in Austin, Texas. COMMON event attendees can see a live demo of Profound UI 4.5 at Booth #317 in the exposition hall.

With the release of Profound UI 4.5, Profound Logic is making the source code for its user interface framework available under an LGPL open source license. This will allow developers to easily modify and extend the framework, as well as include it for free in both open source and commercial projects.

"Profound Logic Software is committed to providing open, native and secure modernization solutions to the IBM i community," states CEO Alex Roytman. "By making our Web 2.0 UI framework open source, we are enabling RPG developers to have more control over the software, eliminate vendor lockin, and ensure the security and quality of the product."

In addition to live demonstrations of version 4.5 at Booth #317, Profound Logic will also offer event attendees a 'key' to unlock the fun of Austin while staying in the city.

"We can't give too much away, but we're planning a nice surprise for attendees at the show, which they can access from their mobile devices," says Roytman.

Profound Logic experts will also lead educational sessions throughout the COMMON event. Sessions by Alex Roytman, Brian May and Robert Ferguson include:

  • RPG Open Access and Profound UI (570230)
  • Using JSON with AJAX on the IBM I (560155)
  • Transforming Green-Screens into Rich Web Apps Using Genie (570226)
  • Young i Professionals (YiP) Roundtable (520310)
  • Modernizing Your File I/O with Data Structures (560475)

On Tuesday, April 9 at the COMMON 2013 IT Executive Conference, Alex Roytman will take part in a vendor panel discussion on the topic of Mobile Application Development for the IBM i.

Following COMMON on April 17, Profound Logic will hold a Webinar presented by Scott Klement that will cover the new features and capabilities in Profound UI version 4.5. The Webinar will include a live product demonstration so attendees can see the new version in action. Registration for the Webinar is at:
