DBU 10.0 extends engine enhancements for the traditional green screen and graphical user interface while offering access to remote data in cross-platform databases.

ProData has announced the release of DBU 10.0, the newest version of its popular database utility. DBU now includes the remote data access plug-in as an integrated part of the utility as well as the JD Edwards (JDE) handling software for simplified access for JDE numeric and date field modification. All DBU users can access these functions and the new enhanced features under one umbrella.

DBU 10.0 extends engine enhancements for the traditional green screen and graphical user interface. New features include:

  • Enhanced multiple file processing
  • Additional screen control features
  • String searches on text fields
  • Ability to build and save new index
  • Field select prompting for DBUSQL
  • Additional underlying enhancements

DBU 10.0 is IBM i 7.1-ready and compatible with i5/OS versions as early as V4R5. Using DBU 10.0, analysts can research or edit field contents, reactivate deleted records and include these records for the new search functions, and create database maintenance applications. This will work for DB2 data on IBM i as well as remote data in such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc. on platforms other than IBM i. Security can be tailored to user-profiles and audit trails can monitor file modifications made on both IBM i and/or the remote servers. No matter whether the user chooses the traditional green-screen or the graphical interface the performance and features of DBU provide full functionality.

“With this release of DBU, not only do we continue to respond to our customer's suggestions from around the world, but we have also added value by integrating the latest in technology such as the ability to access remote data via DBU. This makes DBU even more valuable for all System i shops who have added servers other than IBM i to their mix,” said Allen Hartley, owner of ProData.

DBU 10.0 is designed to complement other ProData productivity utilities for the System i and can be packaged with DBU Audit and RDB Connect for remote access within RPG applications and additional programmer tools offered by ProData.
