OpenLegacy, the open-source legacy modernization and integration platform provider, announced the availability of its Version 2.1, containing new enhancements that make deployment of new Web and mobile applications integrated to backend legacy systems even faster and easier for customers, community users and partners.

“This release is great news for enterprises who want to connect their legacy databases to Web, mobile and cloud applications,” said Zeev Avidan, Vice President of Product Management for OpenLegacy. “Now, enterprise employees, customers and other stakeholders can easily expose databases such as DB2, DB400, ADABAS, IMS, CA-Datacom, CA-IDMS , anywhere, anytime, with minimal cost or overhead.”

The new platform version unveils several key improvements:

- In addition to screens and programs, OpenLegacy can now automatically connect legacy databases to the modern information ecosystem

- User interface additions support communication among the enterprise team

- Professional templates for Industry verticals like healthcare and insurance further shorten time to deployment

- Partners can offer proofs-of-concept quickly and easily with new tools

- Development and deployment can be accelerated through various platform improvements

Automated Legacy Database Integration

In the new release, the OpenLegacy platform automatically and non-invasively opens up legacy databases with its database connector. As before, access to the database is achieved through standard JDBC, but now the data is automatically analyzed and parsed into a strong-type Java object. All this is done using a simple wizard that extracts legacy databases as OpenLegacy objects and standard APIs without changing anything in the legacy system. Then, as part of the seamless process, the wizard transforms the Java objects into stand-alone Web, mobile, and cloud applications. Developers can use the Java objects directly, create their own custom templates, or use OpenLegacy’s full database-to-app automation.

Practical Graphic User Interface Design for Easy Collaboration, Deployment

New templates for program, screen and database applications add variety to the final, modernized solution offering. Graphically-designed industry vertical templates offer professional outputs that enterprises can choose to automatically generate stand-alone Web and mobile applications.

Version 2.1.0 automatically creates visual screen maps that illustrate product navigation. Maps like these give a high level overview of the final solution’s architecture, making it easier to envision and fostering communication throughout the enterprise team.

Interaction Profiler Fast-tracks Partner Rollouts

OpenLegacy continues to work in close collaboration with its system integrator partners. This release comes with an easy-to-install “interaction profiler” tool that records online application processes, enabling partners to rapidly provide proofs-of-concept to their clients. Using the profiler, OpenLegacy automatically transforms ‘green screen’ process flows into Web and mobile applications within a benchmark setting time frame.

State of the Art Open Source, for Rapid Development and Deployment

With Version 2.1.0, OpenLegacy shortens the time to deliver Web and mobile applications by adding key accelerating features such as: eliminating restarts, shortening product update time, reducing the file footprint and enabling deployment to the server with a single click. The new version also includes upgrades to the latest versions of Eclipse and Java, and a more efficient upgrade process.
