Shield Advanced Solutions, leading providers of High Availability software, announces new software offering.

Library Vault for the IBM i—LVLT4i provides iASP based object and data replication for the Managed Service Provider (MSP). Relying on the same object and data replication technology used by Shield’s flagship product HA4i, this solution comes with the added ability to apply the changes to a remote iASP. Developed primarily for deployment by an MSP, LVLT4i is priced by the source system IBM tier group, giving significant benefits to an MSP who generally replicate multiple smaller client systems to a larger target model.

LVLT4i requires IBM i OS Version 5, release 4 and upwards and uses remote journaling for database replication. Utilising the iASP technology for storage of the data and objects allows the isolation of the objects and data from the multiple client systems without the need to worry about library name clashes on a single system. This additional capability requirement came from existing MSP providers who are looking for a competitive edge over other technologies, while maintaining the equivalent Recovery Point Objective of a an HA solution. The product capabilities of LVLT4i is also useful for clients who are replicating data and objects to a single system from multiple satellite systems for data protection or aggregation. This simple solution avoids the need for multiple pairs or complex re-direction processes.

A single price-point paid on a rental basis allows offers an affordable solution.

Says Shield’s President Chris Hird, “Our MSP clients have steered the development of LVLT4i. The resulting solution offers the best of both worlds, affordable rental licenses as they built their business and simplified management. LVLT4i offers a balance between market leading technologies of HA4i and DR4i and split functionality to manage their many client machines. Multi site companies may also find this solution beneficial.”
