Kryos is announcing the release of a new open source version of its Domino Data-to-Portal conversion tool, TitanWEB ViewsFeed. The software is now available free to members of OpenNTF, a popular Domino community site.

ViewsFeed was designed to push Domino data into Java portal environments. It accomplishes this by creating RSS or Atom feeds out of selected Domino views and sending them to preconfigured java Portlets, or to any standard RSS reader or aggregator on computing or mobile devices. And unlike recent RSS tools from IBM, ViewsFeed is version-agnostic and doesn't require the most recent Domino upgrade.

The inspiration for ViewsFeed came from customer concerns about the poor quality of existing Domino to Portal integration solutions recalled Trevor Nimegeers, Kryos co-founder and CEO. "Domino administrators have been unable to participate in portal projects," Nimegeers said. "Until now all of the tools required a significant Java skill set and which most Domino people don't have."

Making an Open Source version of ViewsFeed available seemed a logical next step after discussions with Bruce Elgort, Lotus Notes Podcasting icon (Taking Notes Podcast- available through iTunes) and OpenNTF co-founder. As Kryos Chief Solutions Architect Laurie Desautels puts it, "We have a lot of respect for Bruce and OpenNTF users as a whole, they're the vanguard of the Domino world. Making our tools available in that environment is good for the community and good for Kryos. It's win-win from our perspective."

While the Open Source version of ViewsFeed does not include the full suite of portlets available with TitanWEB, ViewsFeed standard edition (available through Kryos at www.titanweb.ca) it does allow Domino administrators to push data to portal, standard RSS readers , and mobile devices via mobile RSS reader tools.

TitanWEB ViewsFeed Open Source requires IBM Lotus Domino Version 5+, includes a News Feed and Document View Portlet, supports OPML, and produces RSS or ATOM feeds. The product is available for download to registered users of the free Domino community at www.openntf.org.

About Kryos Kryos' consulting and product teams have won numerous awards including, most recently, the worldwide 2007 IBM Lotus Award for Best Portal Solution. TitanWEB Software products are available through Kryos or authorized resellers in the US, UK, Caribbean, and EU. For more information, visit www.kryos.com.
