Zend Technologies announced last week a major release of Zend Studio that can help developers debug and troubleshoot issues more quickly and effectively than before.

Zend Studio, a leading PHP IDE for IBM i, Linux, Windows, and Mac OSX has a new Integrated Code Tracing Viewer in V 7.2. The viewer opens code trace files captured by Zend Server in the production environment. It allows developers to quickly pinpoint the root cause of functional errors or performance slowdowns in their Web applications. This helps eliminate the tedious process of trying to reproduce the production environment and recreate problems, a challenge that is compounded when developers can't access production servers, according to Zend.  Deeper integration of Zend Studio with Zend Framework and Zend Server further extends Zend’s enterprise PHP solutions across the entire lifecycle of Web application development, the company says.

Other Advantages of the new Zend Studio 7.1 include:

  • Zend Studio is the most up-to-date PHP IDE that supports the latest technologies, including Zend Framework, PHP version 5.3 and the Eclipse Platform (Galileo).
  • Zend Studio enhances productivity with team-oriented development features, such as support for source configuration management (CVS, SVN) and shared project settings.
  • Zend Studio provides support for rapid application development (RAD) with features including refactoring, code generation, code assist and semantic analysis.
  • PHP developers can diagnose and resolve application problems quickly and ensure their code initiates correctly because they have the tools for both local and remote (on server) debugging, profiling, code inspection and quick fix, test generation and reporting. Tight integration with Zend Server speeds root-cause analysis of problems detected in production as well as testing and staging environments.
