Surround Technologies has announced a new strategic partnership with looksoftware. The companies said that the accord comes as the synergistic fit between the development products of the two firms became obvious, as well as their shared philosophy and approach to a common IBM midrange client base.

looksoftware offers a full line of development and deployment tools  for System i modernization, including newlook, centric, and soarchitect among others. Surround Technologies CEO Lee Paul says the looksoftware line complements Surround's Accelerator Development Tools. "Not only did we see the lines harmonizing, but we saw an opportunity to unify them to provide our common clients an even more powerful toolset, which is why we developed the free newlook Plug-Ins for Accelerator and Visual LANSA," said Paul.

Marcus Dee, looksoftware's managing director, said, "Short term and long term, we saw a superior fit with Surround, and are thrilled to add a development and integration firm of their quality to our strategic partner list.  We know our mutual customers will be well served."

The Surround-developed software plug-ins provide tight integration between the products and are available now.  Additional terms of the agreement include exploring further co-development potentials and allow Surround to resell the entire looksoftware line and are effective immediately.
