Hot on the heels of the launch of the Apple iPhone3G, looksoftware has announced its snap solution pack for mobile front-ends.

"snap for mobile front-ends" is an integration solution that enables core IBM back-end applications to easily integrate with the latest generation of mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone. The new iPhone3G sold more than one million units during its launch weekend and includes important improvements which enable effective and productive access to enterprise applications.

The snap solution series from looksoftware includes middleware and specialized connectors to enable core enterprise applications to connect with other applications and devices with no change to the underlying code. snap for mobile front-ends includes support for the iPhone, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile devices.

"The latest generation of mobile devices is better suited to enterprise-class, core- application access," says Marcus Dee, looksoftware's managing director. "Broadband access is now standard, user experience (UX) has improved, and device management and security issues are less of a concern," says Dee. "Modern applications need to be accessed by a variety of audiences using multiple types of devices--the low cost of mobile devices will encourage companies to extend anytime, anywhere access to their employees, customers, and partners."

looksoftware's multichannel support enables core application access through multiple channels including a rich-client desktop experience, a thin AJAX-based zero deployment Web experience, and anytime, anywhere mobile access. looksoftware's reuse-based approach means existing RPG and COBOL-based applications can have the most modern connections to other platforms, including two-way Web services support without requiring disruptive, invasive changes to core IBM back-end applications, Dee says.

System i modernization expert Trevor Perry and looksoftware are hosting a webcast on August 26 and September 2 giving live demonstrations of the most modern new front-ends connecting to the most functional and reliable back-end-IBM i.
