Organizations can access modernized green screens and iPhone/iPad device hardware using Presto’s app.

BCD Software LLC., a Quadrant Group company and an IBM i industry leader for almost 40 years, has announced the release of Presto Mobile, an iOS app for accessing modernized green screens from iPhones and iPads.

After Presto is installed on an organization’s IBM i, users can download the Presto Mobile app from Apple’s App Store and configure it to connect to their modernized screens. Presto is BCD’s solution for rapidly giving existing green screens and new RPG programs a web GUI.

“The Presto Mobile app is another example of the investment we’re continually making in Presto and its mobile capabilities. This gives IBM i organizations the option to deploy from an App store or a browser. It also makes it easier to take advantage of the device’s hardware, such as the camera for scanning barcodes,” says Marcel Sarrasin, Quadrant’s VP of Corporate Marketing.

Out-of-the-box Presto-modernized screens will work with the Presto Mobile app, and developers can further enhance them with Presto’s Windows-based Visual Editor. This gives developers the ability to add new mobile-friendly UI elements, such as HTML5 inputs, without HTML experience.

Developers can also create their own custom version of the Presto Mobile app. This enables them to use their organization’s branding and take advantage of other hardware features like geolocation and audio/video capture.
