TechTalk: Print Key Improvement

Pressing the Print key creates a one-page facsimile of your display. This function works well, but until V2R1, there was no built-in method to identify who created this screen image. Now OS/400 has a new system value, QPRTKEYFMT, which can have one of four different values:

*PRTHDR, which includes a header (printed above the screen image) listing the date, time, user profile name and display station name.

*PRTBDR, which prints a border around the screen image, complete with scales numbering lines and columns.

*PRTALL, which prints both the header and the border.

*NONE, if you prefer the screen images as unidentified as before.

The user's job copies system value QPRTKEYFMT each time the user signs on. Users can change this setting with the CHGJOB command, if desired.

Wow, what a concept! After only 13 years, the AS/400 is finally catching up with the S/34!
