With V2R1, Operational Assistant lurks around every corner. Many commands now incorporate a new parameter, ASTLVL (assistance level), which can have the following values:
*PRV (default), meaning that the system will use the same level of assistance it used previously.
*USRPRF, which retrieves the desired level of assistance from the ASTLVL setting in the user profile.
*BASIC, which engages Operational Assistant to make the command more user friendly.
*INTERMED, which disengages Operational Assistant, using the normal system interface.
*ADVANCED--similar to *INTERMED--except that the panels will not include descriptions of function keys or option numbers. This value is rarely accepted.
You can change the assistance level for each individual user profile, since the CHGUSRPRF command has an ASTLVL parameter, too. Further, you can change system value QASTLVL to *BASIC, *INTERMED or *ADVANCED, if you'd rather make the change system-wide.
Here's an example to illustrate the difference between the *BASIC and *INTERMED assistance levels:
DSPMSG ASTLVL(*BASIC) is shown in 2a.
DSPMSG ASTLVL(*BASIC) is shown in Figure 2a.
In particular, notice the presence of F5=Refresh and F6=Display QSYSOPR messages.
The output of DSPMSG ASTLVL(*INTERMED) is shown in 2b.
The output of DSPMSG ASTLVL(*INTERMED) is shown in Figure 2b.
This display is what you're used to, and it presents nothing new.
