Robot, a division of HelpSystems and the systems management solution of choice for automating IBM i processes and applications, announced new enhancements to the Robot/CONSOLE message and resource monitoring software. These enhancements improve the ease of setup and customization for job monitors and offer additional expected statuses for more precise monitoring.
In addition to simplifying the job monitor setup process, Robot continues to build on their tradition of managing by exception by allowing system administrators to focus their selection of jobs being monitored by specifying job type (interactive, batch, etc.), threshold, and run priority. The updated Robot/CONSOLE R05M29 also monitors for any job in a MSGW (message waiting) status and notifies administrators each iteration when a resource monitor is not in its expected status.
“We found that customers sometimes overlooked the initial message,” says Jody Dahl, Software Development Manager, HelpSystems. “Customers can now set up an option either at the resource monitor level or in the system defaults to ensure that important messages are not ignored.”
With an eye toward future upgrades, Robot is also laying solid foundations in the Robot/ALERT notification software. For Robot/CONSOLE customers escalating their messages to Robot/ALERT, the solution now supports a new option to connect to their SMPT server using SSL.
HelpSystems offers a free, 30-day trial of Robot/CONSOLE. The trial includes full product access and free support.
