Gartner reported today that IBM continues to hold the number one position in worldwide server revenue, capturing 34.2 percent revenue share in the fourth quarter of 2007 and 31.1 percent revenue share for the full year.
IBM was also the fastest growing UNIX vendor in 2007, growing nine percent year-to-year and capturing 34.1 percent revenue share for the fourth quarter of last year, according to Gartner.
Gartner also reported that IBM continued to lead the category of servers priced at $250,000 or more with a 58.9 percent worldwide revenue share for the fourth quarter. According to the firm, the revenue for IBM's System z line of servers grew 60.3 percent between the third and fourth quarters of last year.
IBM demonstrated industry leadership across the Americas, Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific and Japan during the fourth quarter, garnering 34.3 percent, 34.6 percent, and 33.6 percent revenue share respectively in the geographies, according to Gartner.
