George Farr, iSeries Eclipse IDE and RPG Compilers Technical Manager at IBMÆs Toronto Lab, will deliver the keynote address at the RPG and DB2 Summit taking place March 20-22 in Las Vegas.
System i Developer, a new consortium dedicated to delivering RPG and DB2-specific training and educational forums, is sponsoring the conference. Farr's keynote, titled "The Future RPG Developer" will touch on trends and capabilities of the RPG IV compiler as well as future development tool enhancements targeted to developers.
In addition to the keynote session, the Summit will feature three days of practical, up-to-the-minute course work on RPG and DB2 subject matter. Attendees select elective sessions from four simultaneous educational tracks û three with an RPG focus and one purely devoted to DB2 and SQL topics. Individual sessions provide in-depth coverage on important topics related to ILE, SQL, RPG, WDSc, and DB2.
The session mix includes a variety of appropriate options for all experience levels, from highly skilled specialists to junior developers. Visitors can view the complete Session Grid online or as a PDF file, or view sessions and abstracts filtered by either course of study or a favorite speaker, at www.SystemiDeveloper.com/sessions.html.
Skip Marchesani, renowned DB2/400 expert, heads the DB2 track with the support of Shantan Kethireddy and Tom McKinley, key members of IBMÆs SQL Query Engine team and instructors for IBMÆs popular SQL performance workshop. Instructors for the RPG tracks include Susan Gantner, Jon Paris, Paul Tuohy, Scott Klement, George Farr, Bob Luebbe, and Aaron Bartell.
Attendees can also extend their training experience past the three-day conference with one of two intensive, half-day HeadStart Workshops on Monday, March 19. The workshops for this conference are called, "All You Need to Know About SQL in 4 Hours," by Skip Marchesani and "Embracing RPG IV and ILE" by Paul Tuohy. Each carries a separate registration fee of $175.
System i Developer formed the RPG and DB2 Summit to provide RPG and DB2 developers with an interactive environment in which to learn about the latest innovations in RPG and DB2 technologies and to focus on improving skills in the essential areas they need to excel in their daily work. The conference format uniquely combines a rigorous RPG and DB2 curriculum, a focus on practical skills that can be easily applied to a developerÆs daily work, accessible instructors, and plenty of opportunities to network with peers and other members of the System i community.
