TurboGorilla-Software, creators of the iSeries PC-Engine suite of iSeries/PC integration tools, will be awarded the IBM Systems Magazine 2007 Honor Roll award at the spring COMMON in Anaheim, Shannon O'Donnell, president of TurboGorilla-Software told MC Showcase.
IBM Systems Magazine bases its awards on a 4.0 scale in a variety of categories including:
In its May 2006 issue of the magazine, TurboGorilla-Software received an overall score of 3.835 out of 4.0 for the PC-Engine, O'Donnell said.
The iSeries PC-Engine is a low-cost alternative to expensive software packages from big-name vendors, which allows you to perform all of the following from a 5250 green-screen with no programming:
- Restrict/allow PC applications and PC files at the system level
- Restrict/allow PC applications and PC files at the user profile level
- Run-it-and-forget-it - (host application continues processing while PC file/application is open)
- Run it and wait - (host application waits until PC file/application completes)
- Convert OS/400 spooled files to PDF files
- For example, if a user wants to open a *.TXT (text) file, she can let Windows decide what PC application (probably Notepad.exe) to use to open the text file with.
