CIOs and IT professionals in general have reputations with other corporate departments that could be vastly improved, according to Raul Cristian Aguirre, founder of Tango/04 Computing Group and a leader in the development of enterprise monitoring software. 

“According to MIT Sloan School of Management's research, CIOs speak another language, IT costs are black holes, and risks are big and unknown," Aguirre says. "However, with the right conceptualization and good decisions, it is possible to reverse this situation,” he explains.

To share his ideas about how to avoid these problems, and at the same time increase trust in IT, Aguirre has begun writing a blog that focuses on achieving improved "corporate visibility." The focus is on achieving two goals. On the one hand, Aguirre will highlight the value that IT contributes to business, while on the other he will try to help solve what he perceives to be a problem of "corporate myopia." He believes that improved corporate visibility is an initiative that the IT department is well-positioned to lead. Aguirre will write the blog while continuing to serve as president and CEO of Tango/04. 

The blog will not in any way feature his company´s products, he assures, but will try to contribute to the professional growth of CIOs, CSOs (computer security officer) and the IT professional in general. It will focus on the delivery of corporate agility and visibility, which are lacking in many companies, he says.

“The IT industry moves according to fashion, and sometimes fashion doesn't fit right," says Aguirre. During the past 20 years with Tango/04, and almost 30 involved with the IT profession, Aguirre has formed a vision of how to solve certain issues. "As I have always cherished the activity of teaching, I hope I can put that experience into this blog and help IT people advance,” Aguirre says.

Born in Argentina to a family of writers and poets, Raul Cristian Aguirre is founder, president and CEO of Tango/04 Computing Group. A graduate in systems analysis from the Univeristy of Buenos Aires' (UBA) Engineering Faculty, he participates in the CEO/MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Entrepreneur Master Program. With more than 25 years of experience in information technologies, Aguirre is an enthusiast of agile methodologies and is a certified ScrumMaster. He formerly worked at IBM and was a professor at UBA's Engineering Faculty. Creative and innovative, Aguirre has designed technologies that have won several international awards, and he has directed different PROFIT Projects of research and development funded by the European Community. 

Aguirre is a frequent speaker at many national and international forums including Internet World, Midrange Expo, and Internet Global Congress, among others. He has been awarded “Speaker of Merit” by COMMON. Besides being the author of many publications, articles, and white papers, Aguirre collaborates in iSeries NEWS, Tango/04 Monitor Magazine, Windows TI Magazine, BSMdigest and other publications. He is a member of the IEEE, executive panelist in several international consultant companies, and a member of the Executive Direction at the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Barcelona Chapter. Like his parents, Aguirre is a poet, is passionate about movies, which he writes and directs, is an amateur actor, football player, voracious reader, proud father, and keen chess player.
