IDC has reported that IBM continues to hold the number one position in worldwide server revenue share, with 30 percent factory revenue share in the third quarter of 2007.
IDC also reported healthy industry growth in UNIX servers, which represents 31.1 percent of quarterly server revenue, with IBM achieving industry-leading factory revenue share of 31.9 percent.
According to IDC, IBM System z mainframe also led servers priced at $250,000 or more with 28.1 percent worldwide revenue share for 3Q07.3
"IBM's leadership position with its System p and System z businesses marked a continuing trend in the industry toward server consolidation," said Bill Zeitler, senior vice president and group executive for IBM Systems & Technology Group. "IBM's investment in innovation for UNIX servers with its latest POWER6-based systems continues to drive growth in this important part of the industry."
