A programmer analyst from Wauwatosa, Wis., is the lucky winner of MC Press Online's drawing for a Dell Mini Netbook in the publisher's "New year, new start, new netbook" contest.

Alan Richter a Wauwatosa, Wis., programmer analyst who works for Harley-Davidson won the Dell Netbook with a $300 value after entering the MC Press Online contest, "New year, new start, new netbook," that was open to readers who download white papers, webcasts, or software from the MC Resource Centers

Richter's name was picked in a random drawing from among a large number of entrants who participated in the contest that ran from October 1 to December 31. Kara Keating-Stuart, MC Press advertising sales manager, chose the winner in the drawing conducted Jan. 5y.

Richter was delighted with the prize and expressed his appreciation for all the benefits that readers experience using the MC Press Online website: “First of all thanks to you and your organization for selecting me for this contest," said Richter. "I have been a user of mcpressonline.com for many years and frequently have found good solutions there.”

Jeff Phillips, MC Press director of Marketing, noted Richter's good luck saying, "We had a large number of entrants vying for this year's most popular high-tech item—a Dell Mini Netbook," he said. "Partly because of the great prizes at MC Press Online, we are seeing a very strong response by readers in the course of downloading white papers and other materials from the MC Resource Centers." Phillips emphasized that readers only have to check a single box before registering in order to enter the contest.

"While we can't give a Dell Netbook to every visitor, we do hope that people appreciate the free information that is available from the MC Resource Centers and realize the value of the on-demand webcasts, free-trial software, and complimentary white papers—the cost of which is borne by the many respected IBM Business Partners who participate in the program," said Keating-Stuart.

Those who entered the netbook contest but didn't win this time can take heart in the fact that MC Press already has launched a new contest, the "You’ll Flip for Our IT Solutions” giveaway (U.S. and Canada Only).  The prize? A Flip Mino HD Camcorder with a suggested retail price of more than $200.* The random drawing to determine the winner of the Flip camcorder will take place March 30, 2010, and a winner will be notified by email. Just submit a completed registration form for your chance to win.

"Throughout the contest period, we will be encouraging everyone in the IBM space to visit all of the many MC Press Web sites, including the MC Press Online news portal and home to a family of online publications; the MC Resource Centers; and the MC Press Bookstore, where SQL books are currently on sale
