The Maxava iFoundation is thrilled to announce its new community Bowling Tournament, ‘i Community Strikes Back’ and the chance to win a trip to COMMON Fall later this year.

“We are hosting this bowling tournament in addition to our regular annual funding program. Like many others in the community, we have been actively looking for more ways to bring the IBM i community together and create a stronger sense of partnership among its users and stakeholders,’’ explained Allan Campbell, CEO of Maxava.

The inaugural Maxava iFoundation Bowling Tournament, “i Community Strikes Back” is open to all in the US-based IBM i community with the champions winning a trip to the COMMON Fall Conference & Expo in October 2017. With a successful launch of this event in the US, the plan is for the iFoundation to expand it into a global competition in coming years.

Allan Campbell, Maxava’s CEO said, “We are hoping for a good showing with teams from the cross section of the IBMi community including User Groups, Resellers, ISVs, MSPs, Media and of course IBM itself.”

The tournament is a “postal competition” with teams organizing their own local bowling event. When teams register, the Maxava iFoundation will send out a tournament kit with instructions, and some other goodies to get the competition pumping. On completion of the local event the team manager simply submit scores, photos and match reports online.

“We are delight that Power Systems magazine is supporting the competition with a tournament page in their monthly magazine that will provide league tables, photographs and reports from competitors,” said John Dominic, Maxava’s VP Sales and Business Development. “It all adds to the fun and community spirit.”

Entry is simple. In order to participate, a team consisting of 4 or more individual bowlers nominates a team manager and registers online. The team holds its event at a local bowling alley and the manger submits its scores online. Each team can decide how many bowling events to host since multiple entries are permitted. The more the merrier!

See the Tournament User Guide here and register online. The competition opens the first day of the COMMON Spring Conference & Expo on 7th May and closes on 31st August 2017, with winners announced in September.

“Maxava is delighted to support this new tournament and we are hoping it really works in helping to add some extra fun and vitality to the community,” John Dominic said. “It would be great if Resellers and ISVs organized bowling events for their clients and prospects and if the user groups took one of their regular “sit-down meetings” on a road trip to the bowling alley. Let’s call it a competitive recruitment night!” He added.

The Maxava iFoundation Bowling Tournament is organized by the Maxava iFoundation and is sponsored by Maxava, IBM Systems Magazine and COMMON. For more details, visit the tournament website here.
