IBM i Chief Architect Steve Will will explain the strategy behind key enhancements in IBM i 7.2 and reveal his own vision for the future of IBM i development on Tuesday, September 30, in his Keynote address at the upcoming RPG & DB2 Summit. Will's vision shapes the capabilities of the IBM i platform and sets the table for development teams to deliver IBM i applications that help their businesses gain competitive advantage.

The Summit, which will take place September 30 – October 2, 2014 at the DoubleTree Park Place hotel in Minneapolis, will also feature breakout sessions on Row Column Access Control and other 7.2 database enhancements.

According to System i Developer partner Paul Tuohy, the latest IBM i announcements highlight the need to stay up-to-date with IBM i technology. "There's so much really cool, really efficient technology at our fingertips," Tuohy says. "As a community, we need to start taking advantage of it faster if we want to keep our applications relevant to current business needs. It was exciting to see all of the interest in the new free-form specs at the last Summit. And we've seen a lot of interest in RDi and SQL over the last year or so, too."

At the March 2014 Summit, Barbara Morris' session More Freedom for RPG earned the distinction of being the Summit's best-attended breakout in its 7-year history. The top-attended pre-conference seminar was Susan Gantner's day-long RSE/RDi Hands-On Workshop, which sold out for the second conference in a row.

This fall, pre-conference workshops on RSE/RDi, PHP and SQL will take place Monday, September 29.
