Maxava iFoundation provides support to IBM i user groups around the world with a second round of annual grants offered to qualifying organizations.
Maxava iFoundation today announced the continued support for the IBM i community with renewed grant funding for the June 2012–June 2013 annual period. The Maxava iFoundation was established by high availability and disaster recovery provider Maxava in 2011 specifically to support the IBM i user community by providing financial assistance to not-for-profit organizations and direct funding of initiatives designed to grow and strengthen the IBM i community.
With a series of small grants to IBM i user groups in North America, Europe, and South Africa, the foundation has assisted front-line organizations in their work to foster education about the IBM i platform, support guest speaker programs, and fund local user group projects.
“As a company completely focused on the IBM i platform we were delighted with the applications the Maxava iFoundation received in 2011 and the chance it gave us to help the hard working organizations that support and promote the IBM i community worldwide," said Allan Campbell, chief executive officer of Maxava.
"Despite being involved in the IBM i world for many years, we are now more aware than ever of the hard work that is quietly put into supporting our community by a significant number of dedicated and unpaid IBM i professionals. We really appreciate their efforts and the opportunity they give us to support their work in the IBM i community. We have a few other ideas, and over the next 12 months, we will be looking at what else we can do to help,” said Campbell.
Applications are now open for the Maxava iFoundation 2012–2013 funding period and are open to any not-for-profit organization helping to enhance the broader IBM i community in any part of the world.
Funding recipients from 2011 are also invited to reapply during the 2012–2013 period. A limited number of grants are available of up to $2,000 for any one organization. Grants can be used to support activities such as, but not limited to, educational conferences and workshops, speaker expenses, marketing and educational collaboration with local colleges and universities. Applicants may begin applying now, but all applications for funding must be received prior to the deadline of June 30, 2012.
