LANSA has announced a major upgrade of LANSA Composer, a "code-free" business process Integration (BPI) solution designed specifically for organizations running on the IBM i platform.

LANSA Composer V2 adds more than 100 new and enhanced features that improve the ease of use, breadth of integration, and runtime performance of the product. Support for executing business processes on Windows as well as IBM i servers also has been introduced.

"It was just 18 months ago that LANSA delivered BPI technology to ‘the rest of us' by announcing the first solution designed specifically for the heartland of the IBM i community-the small- and medium-sized business," said Pete Draney, CEO of LANSA. "Today, in these tough economic times, businesses of every size are under immense pressure to do more with less. This new version of LANSA Composer will be a ‘must have' for businesses that need to automate their manual processes, better integrate their internal systems, and securely share data with external parties. LANSA Composer does for BPI what end-user reporting tools have done for BI (Business Intelligence)," said Draney.

LANSA Composer is a versatile design and execution platform for integrating business activities that involve the transportation and transformation of data and custom business processing. The design environment was made ‘code-free' by combining a graphical data mapping tool with a visual process sequence editor. A business analyst, or a similarly skilled person, can design an end-to-end process in conjunction with subject matter expertswithout the need for any programming expertise. Typical business scenarios include routing transactions and alerts between trading partners, automating workflow procedures between departments, and providing straight-through processing between front- and back-office systems.

Highlights of LANSA Composer Version 2 include:

•  Improved exception handling-make amendments and continue from the point of interruption when unexpected events are encountered

•  Enhanced auditing features-one-click documentation of process sequences

•  Introduction of version control-for the purposes of compliance and change management

•  Improved user interface-new features have been introduced to improve ease-of-use and enhance user productivity based upon early adopter feedback

•  Support for Excel 2007 (OOXML) - is added to the library of data types and transport protocols like XML, EDI, Text/CSV, Web Service functions and a variety of databases

•  Automated deployment features - eliminates error-prone manual steps when deploying processes from a development to a production environment

•  Support for Windows Server 2003 and 2008-in addition to the IBM i as a deployment server

"LANSA Composer's strength is its simplicity. No more hand cranking 3GL code now we have one product to manage trading partners, organize events, and transform data," said Larry Ronhovde, president, Eagle Information Systems.

LANSA Composer V2 is now generally available for purchase and existing users will receive a free upgrade from V1 if they have a software maintenance agreement in effect.
