SafeData, LLC, a technology company focused on helping companies protect their data, minimize downtime, and recover and restore data quickly, has announced that it signed six new iSeries high availability clients this past December.

The ongoing growth of SafeData's customer base validates the continued high level of interest for a managed approach to iSeries high availability, the company says.

"Data protection and availability continue to be growing concerns of organizations of all shapes and sizes," said Peter Briggs, president of SafeData. "Although iSeries hardware and replication software have improved greatly, managing two systems and maintaining a stable environment can stretch the IT resources of small and mid-sized businesses very thin. With our high availability solution, we monitor the 'health' of the system replication and manage all of the network connections to ensure switch readiness for our clients. We guarantee stability, minimize our clients' capital investments in hardware and software, and help IT departments focus on their core applications," he said.

"With the significant confusion in the marketplace that all high availability vendors are now owned by the same equity firm, SafeData can eliminate these uncertainties and take ownership of an organization's solution through our subscription-based approach," said Briggs.

Combining best-of-breed iSeries and Windows-based technologies from the industry's leading developers, SafeData/HA (high availability) is a cost- effective subscription-based, high availability solution for an organization's most critical systems. Using industry-leading replication technologies, SafeData creates and maintains a mirror of its clients' systems in its data centers. During either planned or unplanned downtime, SafeData/HA is a high availability service that provides a switchable "mirror" of a company's data and applications guaranteeing continuity in two hours or less.

SafeData also offers a disaster recovery solution, SafeData/DR, as a lower-cost alternative to data replication for companies with a recovery time objective of 10 hours or less. Leveraging the latest in electronic vaulting technologies, SafeData's service includes disk-to-disk backup and restoration capabilities. Its vaulting solution eliminates the potential for lost, damaged, or obsolete tapes. It also offers anytime, anywhere secure access to files via a standard Web browser. Furthermore, SafeData/DR's restoration capabilities enable clients to use their data whenever they need it.

SafeData's six new clients include: Carlisle Companies Incorporated--Industrial Components, Charlotte, N.C.; H&M International Transportation, Inc., Jersey City, N.J.; Coilplus, Philadelphia, Pa.; Centra State Healthcare System, Freehold, N.J.; Ocean State Jobbers, Inc., North Kingstown, R.I.; and Kwik Trip, Inc., La Crosse, Wis.
