IBM Bluemix Dedicated is an implementation of the IBM open cloud architecture. Bluemix Dedicated is a single-tenant Bluemix environment hosted in an isolated SoftLayer instance and managed by IBM. This new platform enables developers to build applications around their most sensitive data and deploy them in a dedicated cloud environment.
Bluemix Dedicated gives you access to a collaborative, cloud-based platform in a single-tenant environment. It is hosted in an IBM cloud centre of your choice to allow for maximum control over where data resides. Supported with dedicated hardware from within a SoftLayer cloud centre and direct network connectivity to the enterprise, Bluemix Dedicated gives you the unique benefits of SoftLayer, including a built-in private network and unparalleled control and workload visibility.
Bluemix Dedicated will initially offer runtime capability along with a core set of services. It includes the following initial services:
- Cloudant scalable, high-performance database-as-a-service
- Data caching to improve the speed and responsiveness of web applications
- Run times to give developers the flexibility to run their applications in the coding language of their choice
Beyond run times and services, Bluemix Dedicated includes the following benefits:
- VPN connectivity back to the customer environment
- Fully redundant environment in the data centre selected
- Federated catalogue from the public Bluemix offering
- Standard support
In addition, the following options are available:
- SoftLayer Direct Link
- Dedicated support
Developers can build and run applications in Bluemix Dedicated, as well as pull in services from the IBM public Bluemix catalogue. Coupled with the growing network of IBM local cloud centres, Bluemix Dedicated helps clients address concerns over data sovereignty, performance, and compliance by giving them more control over the physical location of their data and production environments.
Bluemix Dedicated is available for purchase on a subscription basis.
