There is no dispute that data security is becoming increasingly important. Where encryption used to be the domain of high-end data-sensitive environments--such as banking, finance and the medical professions--the need to secure data from theft, misuse, or unauthorized access is becoming significantly more acute for all users, according to Maximum Availability.
Following the release of disk encryption on IBM i 6.1, Maximum Availability has moved quickly to ensure its high availability *noMAX suite of products support this feature. IBM i users are now able to have both source and target databases on encrypted disks when using *noMAX to replicate their data, the company said.
"As a market leader in high availability technology, we were excited to see IBM bring disk encryption to the IBM i platform," said Allan Campbell, Maximum Availability CEO. "It is fast becoming standard practice to treat all data as sensitive, and with a much wider range of customers looking at ways to meet increasingly onerous security standards, we have moved quickly to ensure these benefits can be enjoyed by *noMAX's customers," he said. "This enhancement serves to reinforce *noMAX's unique commitment to leading the IBM i high availability marketplace with real and relevant innovation. Watch out for many more examples in 2009," he said.
