DRV Technologies, Inc., the developer of FlexTools paperless report and document management, and system monitoring for the IBM i, iSeries, and AS/400, has announced the release of SecureChex standalone software which is DRV Tech‘s software for secure MICR laser check printing.

Many organizations print checks for payables, payroll, commissions etc., often relying on pre-printed continuous form checks printing on impact printers. According to DRV President Richard Voss,” Laser printing has been around as an alternative to pre-printed checks for more than 20 years, but many vendors require expensive proprietary printers claiming superior security and performance. DRV challenges that assertion by moving the security from hardware into the software with the release of this standalone module, SecureChex.”

Until now, DRV customers had to purchase FormFlex and add the Secure Checks module to obtain the MICR font and checkbooks, but now the new standalone module SecureChex provides customers the option to purchase just what they need to print MICR laser checks.

SecureChex works with inexpensive HP compatible laser printers, without the need for proprietary MICR enhanced printers. You still use MICR toner, but you can get the printer from your local provider. The MICR font is in the secure software. Secure checkbooks store your bank account information in the password protected software.

Security is the top priority. SecureChex places the security in the software with password protection, where you store the checkbooks, check overlays, encrypted signatures, check register, and can even require one or two passwords at the time of printing. Multi-level security based on user profile means the payables clerk can print payable checks, but cannot edit them. The payroll clerk can print payroll, but not AP checks. Printing can require the clerk and their supervisor to enter separate passwords.

Conditional signatures can print one or two signatures based on the check amount that you specify. You can even different print runtime signatures if someone is on vacation. With the security in the software, there is no special hardware, which means nothing proprietary to break or become obsolete, and you can finally get rid of those obsolete and expensive impact printers and check signers!

SecureChex security takes you all the way to the bank with positive pay support. After a check run, a check register and file are created. You can send that positive pay file to your bank, and only checks listed are allowed to clear for the amount specified in the positive pay file.

DRV offers SecureChex as a turnkey solution, meaning all of the signature digitizing, design work, and implementation is taken care of. The editor is included if customers prefer a do it yourself approach, and new import tools have been added to allow customers to import their own digitized signatures if they prefer.

SecureChex integrates seamlessly with any application that runs on the IBM i and outputs generic spooled files, including Infor solutions, JD Edwards, SunGard PS, TMW, HarrisData, Island Pacific, custom applications and many more. SecureChex runs on any system running IBM i 7.3-5.4, or i5/OS V5R3.
