The company’s new edition of its Web-based BI solution allows users to perform updates on IBM i.

Utilities 400 has announced the release of ShowMe+, a Web-based business intelligence and execution solution for System i users.  ShowMe+ builds on the success of ShowMe, for real-time presentation of OLAP cubes.

"ShowMe+ takes Web-based business intelligence to the next evolutionary step by allowing secure write back to the System i database,” said Steve Close, technical director, Utilities 400. “Creating a secure Web-based business portal to place orders, update information, and execute processes will provide closer supply chain interaction, giving our customers the competitive advantage,” he said.

ShowMe+ Enhancements

ShowMe+ adds the facility to enter and update information on IBM i via the standard ShowMe browser interface. Transactions can be performed either via a single Web page, or series of Web pages may be combined to perform ERP functionality such as sales order entry or cash allocation. Web pages are completely customizable, and full data validation routines are included.

Technical Data

Web pages are served using our ShowMe application running on a Wintel server. Communication is via a low-level socket interface to a server program running on IBM i. This program performs all file processing and updates. The PC element is written in .NET and runs under Microsoft IIS, the i driver engine is written in ILE RPG. Resource requirements are low; most customers run the Web serving from a server that is shared with other applications.
