An affordable new mobile database access solution from SystemObjects can give managers real-time information about what is occurring in operations.
SystemObjects has announced Business4Mobile, a solution for real-time access to multiple enterprise databases using a mobile device. The system works with smartphones connected to the Internet, or from a PC, MAC, Linux, or iPad.

With Business4Mobile, regardless of the database used (IBM DB2/ 400 for i, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM Informix, Oracle and soon PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.), a C-level executive may at anytime, from anywhere, access the database via their cell phone. They may view results on a dashboard or simply consult database tables to monitor a business process.
“Business4Mobile works with an iPhone, a BlackBerry, Nokia and cell phones running on either Android or Windows Mobile software," says Charbit. "It has been designed to work with all the mobile phones and all databases. It’s crucial that C execs can have access—regardless of their database or cell phone—to their dashboards,” says Charbit.
The application now has attracted the SoDExi Company, a subsidiary of the Air France–KLM Group. The first worldwide operator for express freight using commercial flights, the company operates from its 250,000-square-foot hub at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport.
"Our business is to get clear and deliver a package without delay," says Fabrice Noël, CIO of SoDExi. "We deal with more than 400 flights everyday arriving or departing , which represents more than 60,000 tons of express freight per year. Our business is running 24/7; it is sometimes difficult for some managers, not present onsite, to assess the flow in a few seconds. With Business4Mobile, we were able to easily create dashboards to measure real-time freight volumes handled and the main discrepancies. These business applications include areas of traceability, logistics, and a customs clearance system, our project for dematerialization of documents implemented in partnership with the Customs Administration,” says Noël.
Business4Mobile doesn’t need to be installed on the cell phone. "We chose to develop a web application instead," says Charbit. "This avoids having to create and maintain multiple applications for multiple terminals and operating systems. This application was developed with great care to use the lightest HTML pages and can be used with all browsers ," says Charbit.
Once connected to Business4Mobile, users can access a list of available queries, according to the rights granted by the administrator. During a consultation, users have an intuitive, multilingual interface guiding them along in customizing the display options, including the maximum number of rows displayed for results or the how digital data will be presented as in bar charts or pies, etc. The user can also send the results by email as an attached PDF file.
The Business4Mobile price is based on the number of registered users for any number of databases or servers and starts at $525 for five users. Business4Mobile is sold directly over the Internet at www.business4mobile.com or through a network of partners.
